I bought this device after reading positive reviews to complement my Logitech Z120 speakers in my little room. I must say I’m impressed by their sound quality when it comes to clarity and detail.Compared to the Logitech z120, this has noticeably less bass (it’s there and it’s high quality bass but too little for music I think) and less treble but smooth and non fatiguing. However, the mids are in a different world, it completely thrashes the z120 in sound quality and details with the midrange. Vocals, instruments, gaming details like feet walking, dialogues and gunfire etc are just lovely. This sounds more like an expensive speaker set (but with less bass and treble), amazing. I must add that I’ve connected both speakers to a 5v 1A adapter as I found the best performance, both in bass and overall quality on the z120 to come from a 1A source, not a USB2 slot or 2A adaptor.So I’ve paired the two speakers with a splitter. The bass, treble and airyness of the z120 and the mids, details and smoothness of the Orpheus play amazingly well together. Fiddling with the volume dials on both plus any eq changes in software, for different music or gaming/movies works pretty well, lots of variation in sound. I connected them to a portable dac/amp but they’re quite good connected directly to laptop/desktop via splitter.As a standalone set, I would highly recommend this for gaming, movies, speech, vocals, instrumentals and folk music that is not bass focussed, total value for money. I would not recommend this for modern pop music, rock, edm, rap, hip hop or any use case to get yourself dancing or in party mode. The bass is there but too light for such purposes and the mids are the star of the show. So choose wisely according to your need.
